Mandai Shoten

Last night after dinner we stopped by “Mandai Shoten”. It’s kind of a used item shop or as the Japanese call it, a “recycle” shop. They sell all kinds of cool things. The store is a little bit hip, and also has loud music playing in every corner of the store.

Some of the different sections that they have are: video games, manga, DVD, CD, clothes, shoes, toys and figures, musical instruments, fishing gear, and even airsoft and paintball guns. It’s quite an interesting shop. For those interested, and that live in Sendai, it can be found on the Sendai by-pass  just south of Minami Sendai station.

What The Hell!?!?!

Yes, Japan is a strange place. Maybe the strangest on earth. Watch this video and understand what I mean…

Inoki Special Curry

I got this the other day at Village Vanguard. It’s “Antonio Inoki Special Curry”! I just couldn’t resist buying it. Previously I wrote about Inoki’s restaurant and his extreme slapping power. Now he’s doing curry.

The curry itself was pretty standard tasting, and it only had a measly two pieces of beef in it. The box did contain a special trading card though, portraying Inoki screaming.

Unfortunately, Inoki’s curry is not that special.

Terrible Teens

Here’s another train manners poster. This time it’s terrible teenagers sitting on the floor right at the door. This actually happens all of the time, and it’s a real pain getting on and off the train since they don’t move out of the way. It’s one of my big pet peeves regarding manners in Japan.

Pringles Napoletan

Here’s the latest flavor from Pringles. It’s Neapolitan spaghetti flavor. It’s actually kind of close to ketchup flavor, which makes sense since Japanese people seem to love putting ketchup in their pasta sauce. It wasn’t bad however.

Scratchy DS

Recently I’ve been playing a lot (and I do mean a lot) of Rittai Picross. Which is great, but it seems that over the years my DS accumulated some scratches on the touch screen. Which when using the stylus makes a horrible “gritty” sound much like rubbing a piece of sand paper on it. So to remedy this I went and got this…

ds scratch guard

It great because it uses no glue, just a thin amount of some kind of silicon gel or something. It can easily removed and repositioned as many times as you want. The best part is it even made the scratches disappear, so my DS now looks like it has new screens. Awesome!

Spicy Black

Here’s the latest ginger ale from Canada Dry. It’s called “Spicy Black”. The flavor is kind of in between ginger ale and ginger beer. It was strong, crisp and refreshing.

The reason it’s called “spicy black” is because it has black pepper in it, as shown on the side of the bottle.

Sri Lankan Chicken Curry

Here’s what we made for dinner today using the book I bought recently. It was a lot of fun using all of the different spices and making it from scratch. When we were cooking it the smell was amazing. It was really nice and spicy. Doesn’t it look delicious!

Kamui Gaiden

As everyone knows, I love ninja. I’m crazy about ninja! Well thanks to Naoko and her very cute post about the Koga Ninja village, I learned about a new movie based on the old manga “Kamui Gaiden”. Kamui was the first manga I ever read, so it holds a special place in my heart. Of course the story is all about ninjas. Kamui is a rogue ninja trying to escape from his clan and achieve freedom. He is pursued relentlessly. What the trailer below, and enjoy some ninja action.
