Movie Bread

Here’s something I think is just in Japan. Using bread as a promotional item for movies and TV shows. For example this one promoting the new “Rookies” movies.

The bread is the same as usual, but the package is plastered with the movie logo. I’ve also seen this for “Pokemon”, some TV dramas, and lots of children shows.

Rittai Picross Done!

Well I finally finished Rittai Picross. I previously wrote about the game here. Once I finished the final 369th puzzle I was treated to…..nothing. The game was all done. Not even a credited roll or a congratulations. You can see the photographic proof below.

The game was really fun, and I really enjoyed it, but there was a couple things that bothered me. The game wasn’t difficult enough. It depended too much on time limits to make it hard. I hated having to re-do a puzzle just to get an extra star to open the gold or silver puzzles. That’s why I won’t be getting perfect golds on all of the levels. Making one tiny mistake and losing a star was too strict I think. I’ll stick with my silvers. I really hate doing stuff twice.

Otherwise the game was good. Now I have to find a new DS obsession.

Open Sesame

Here’s a new kind of chip. These are made with sesame oil, giving them a distinct flavor. It’s similar to normal salt flavored chips with a nice hint of sesame. Quite good!

Gatchaman T

Also at Uniqlo they have these really awesome Gatchaman T-Shirts. Everyone already knows I’m super crazy about Gatchaman (otherwise known as “Battle of the Planets” or “G-Force”. I got this black one showing the whole team in action.

GameSpite Quarterly 1

This just got delivered to me today. It the new quarterly magazine/book for the awesome website GameSpite. I had previously bought GameSpite Year one Vol. 1, and loved it a lot. So getting the new book was a no-brainer.

Cool Music

I thought I would do a post about some of the cool music I’ve been enjoying lately. Here’s some videos for you to enjoy. I’ve just listed the band and the album before each video.

Passion Pit – “Manners”

Really cool poppy electronic music, but with an indie slant to it.

Vampire Weekend – “Vampire Weekend”

I can’t stop listening to this album. It’s fantastic! Definitely some African or Peter Gabriel influence here.

The Rumble Strips – “Girls and Weather”

Great album, really catchy.

Camera Obscura – My Maudlin Career

Nice 60’s style pop. A good replacement for Belle & Sebastian while they’re on break.

Iris Festival

Today we went to the Iris Festival in Kakuda. Iris is a big manufacturer of plastic stuff, kind of like Rubbermaid in North America. Well they have a huge factory on the outskirts of Kakuda city. It seems like most of the big companies here have annual festivals. This one was an international food festival.

The had all kinds of foods, like Indian…

Korean…

And most importantly kebabs!!

I was very happy to see kebabs, since it’s been well over a year since I had a shawarma, gyro, or any kind of meat in a pita. It was delicious. Some of the other countries they had food from were Italy, Mexico, Vietnam, Thailand, America, and Malaysia.

Homemade Liquor

Today we made some homemade liquor. It’s pretty easy. All you need is white liquor, fruit, and rock sugar. I didn’t want to make normal old plum liquor, I wanted to make something a little different. We noticed that you could make mikan (a Japanese tangerine) or lemon flavored liquor. I thought it would be an even better idea to make a citrus mix. So we put mikan, oranges, grapefruit, and lemon.

Whether this mix will taste good or not will not be revealed for at least a month, so stay tuned for a future post on the final results.

Veggie Chicken

Here’s the new thing at KFC. It’s a “Veggie Chicken Wrap”.  Don’t misunderstand this is not a dish for vegetarians, it does have real chicken in it. The vegetables are just the stuff thrown in with the chicken. The flavour was not bad, but I think I like the normal Twisters better. I miss the crunchy chicken.
