Lee Everything

Recently they had promotion for Lee curry (my favorite instant curry), mixing it with various other popular products. How does curry flavored Pretz sound? I’ll tell you they were pretty good.

How about some curry flavored sausages too? Well meat is always good!

They also had some other stuff like rice crackers and the sort. I only tried these two though.

Slime Manga

Adding to my never ending collection of Dragon Quest stuff, I picked up this used manga at the One of the local Seagull game shops.  I got it for a paltry 15 yen. Featuring slimes I simply couldn’t resist.

The comic is obviously aimed at very young children. Featuring silly gags, and as little use of complicated Japanese as possible.

Professor Layton

Yesterday I got the new Professor Layton game for DS. I loved the first one so much, and finished every single puzzle in the game. Now I have the new one. I’ve already played three hours so far. It’s definitely as good if not better than the first one. Check out a trailer for the game below.

Diabolo

diabolo ginger

I got this new soda at the super market recently. It’s called “Diabolo Ginger”. Basically it tastes more like Ginger Beer, and not like Ginger Ale. The taste is sharp, and strong. Which makes it perfect for a hot summer day.

Cute Characters

For the recent release of Dragon Quest IX they’ve come out with some really cute little figures. It’s based on the create a character system in the new game, where you can switch and swap pieces to make something unique. These little figures can do the same thing. I’ve only got a couple so far, but they are so awesome and super cute.

I have him wearing two pices of the hero armor. I also have this merchant figure.

Kakuda Tanabata ’09

This weekend I was busy going to lots of summer festivals. One of the was the Kakuda Tanabata festival on Friday, which is conveniently located close to my house. They had all of the tanabata decorations hung up all over one of the main streets.

There was lots of food stands, and lots of bands playing all day long. They were all local bands (I’m surprised how many punk bands there are in Kakuda). At night they had the rocket lit up, so you could see it anywhere in town.

Also there were fireworks as well, to cap off the whole event.

Tamago Update!!

This is an addition to the last post that I did. I stated how I felt guilty eating the Tamago Double Mac. Well now I don’t have to feel so bad, because some people in Japan are eating this monstrosity!

mega-tamago

Yes, a Mega Tamago!! Add one more hamburger patty, more bacon, lots more mayo, and you have a Japanese exclusive sandwich that will surely send you into cardiac arrest. Who say all of the food in Japan is healthy!?

Tamago Double Mac

tamago double mac

Here’s the latest new burger at McDonald’s. It’s the heart stopping “Tamago Double Mac”. Tamago means egg by the way. This burger just says cholesterol with it’s two beef patties, egg, bacon, and pepper mayonnaise. I must have been living here too long, because the first time I had a single patty Tamago Mac, I thought it was too unhealthy. Now I had the double and I’m starting to like it. Soon I’ll be eating even more bad stuff like mochi or red bean paste (that’ll never happen)!

By the way last month they had a Spicy Black Pepper Juicy Chicken sandwich. It was quite spicy and quite delicious! The red one wasn’t new and is a regular on the menu.

Marumori Lantern Festival

Last night we went to Marumori, which is quite close to Kakuda, to the lantern festival. It was really quite beautiful seeing hundreds of paper lanterns hanging everywhere around this old soy sauce merchant’s house. I thought I would share some really nice photos I took.

The grounds were absolutely packed with people. All desperately trying to take photos with their crappy cell phone cameras or their tiny point and shoot cameras. Flashes were going off everywhere. Don’t they realize using the flash will make the picture look terrible? Don’t they realize they’re wasting their time and ruining the atmosphere?

This Book is Broken

this book is broken

Today Fed EX delivered my copy of “This Book is Broken”, a beautiful book about the history of one of the best bands in the world “Broken Social Scene”. It’s a very interesting story of members of various Canadian rock bands (including Stars, Feist, The Dears, Metric, and many more) coming together in one amazing band. The number of members varying from 5 to 26 depending on the live show. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Check out this video taken by a fan at their now legendary free concert in Toronto on July 11th this year.

And this awesome music video.

Yes, it is true that Canadians are in fact the coolest people on earth.
