We were watching a Japanese TV show the other day. The show features segment showing the origins of all kinds of Japanese pop culture items. This episode the had a retrospective on “Ninja Hattori-Kun.
He’s a cute ninja character for kids, star of many cartoons and manga. Very cute looking. Well it turns out that they had a live action version on TV during the sixties. In it Hattori-kun is played by a man in a mask.
The result is almost frightening! I wonder who thought this live action show would be better than a cartoon.
How many kids had nightmares after watching this?
hattori is so cute
I agree. I had no idea ninjas could be so adorable.
i love hattori i used to watch this cartoon all the time its so cute and adorable..and actually u get to learn a lot of stuff from there.
I’ve never really watched it, since it’s only in Japanese. I have seen it while my nieces were watching it though. It looks funny.
I think the real action series are very good indeed. Just think how beautiful would be if this series could be realized with actual technologies (CGI, better costumes etc etc..).
They did do a recent live action movie, but unfortunately it wasn`t so good.
there was a movie remake with Shingo from SMAP

He is a best ninja
Well he seems to be the most popular at least.
Anyone interested in this should read the manga, “20th Century Boys”. I don’t want to post spoilers but you will love it and think to yourself “Amazing…”.
I’ve read 20th Century Boys as well. It is very good. Monster by the same artist is also excellent.
whow!
Hey Eric, if you’re interested in watching Ninja Hattori, in India, we get a translated edition of it in hindi, tamil, telugu and english.
Wow, that’s a lot of languages!
FYI India has 18 official languages and 100+ local languages đŸ™‚
I knew India had a lot of languages, but I had no idea that it was 100+. I wonder how many languages the average India person can speak? What’s the most common language in India?
The majority of people in India speak Hindi, but Tamil is quite popular around the world. You can sea Tamil speaking people in countries like Singapore, Sri Lanka and South Africa. The average person is either bilingual or trilingual by knowing English, their mothertongue and/or Hindi/Urdu.
i got nightmares for almost a week!
