Giant

Down in Kobe they’re build a life size statue of the famous anime robot Tetsujin 28, also know as Gigantor in North America. I have to say it’s looking pretty good so far. After it’s finished I might have to go see it someday. Check it out in the video.

I love old style robots.

  1. This statue will be 18 meters tall. The same size as the Gundam in Tokyo.

Did you see my post about it?

    • They may be the same size, but I think this one is much cooler. The nice action pose is the clincher. Plus this one is permanent.

I just read you post. I don’t think the Marvel comic Iron Man, and Tetsujin 28 have anything in common at all. I know both pretty well, and any similarities are probably just coincidence.

But the Gundam one can move…and light up.😉

        >any similarities are probably just coincidence.

        It’s just something I’ve heard.

I also heard that Disney’s Lion King (from the 1990s) is an uncredited copy of 「ジャングル大帝」 (US title: “The White Lion“) (from the 1960s).
Disney’s lion’s name is Simba…Tezuka’s lion’s name is Kimba. And the stories have similarities.

        • The Lion King rumor is true. Not only with the Simba/Kimba thing, but also the bad lion with a scar, and Kimba’s dad also appears to him in the clouds. Too similar.

  2. I think the Gundam in Tokyo should have a mega-fight (robo-fight?) with the Gigantor in Kobe🙂

Is this the Japanese idea of a stimulus project?

    • No. The reason for this is to to honor the artist of this character, Yokoyama-san, who was born in that town (Kobe, Japan) 75 years ago (he died in Tokyo 5 years ago).

(The reason for the giant Gundam in Tokyo is because the Gundam anime is 30 years old this year.

    • Well it will stimulate tourism in that area.
