Grow Your Own

Yesterday we went and got some plants for the garden. It’s the best time of year to plant vegetables and such, so this year we decided to try growing some stuff.

So far we have some arugila, rocket, red pepper, rosemary, spearmint, and some Italian parsley. Not pictured is chili pepper, normal parsley, green pepper, tomato, basil and cucumber. Hopefully lots of stuff will grow. I like the idea of a garden growing food, and not flowers.

erika and I will be starting our garden soon. She wants to get lot of seeds for Japanese vegetables this summer.

  2. I have sunflowers, carrots, lettuce, broccoli, and potatoes growing in my class’s garden at school. The soil here is great!

    • Last year my school grew tomatoes and I think zucchini or cucumber. I can’t remember, but I know we only got tomatoes at the end.

We’ll bring the seeds across and play dumb if we get stopped. I don’t think it is a problem though, only if you bring fresh vegetables.

  4. Its nice to know that there is fresh herbs available in the garden when you need it, isnt it? My parent’s place have enough lemongrass, chillis growing ..the others are my dad’s precious mango trees, banana trees and coconut trees mixed with my mom’s precious flowers.

    • I agree. I really want to grow coriander too, but I haven’t found any seeds yet. I was debating trying with the spice seeds that I have, but I don’t know if it would actually work.

  5. Is it easy to find coriander seeds there or the other spice seeds? I would love to send some to a friend of mine over there but i understand there are certain things that are not allowed via post to Japan. I wish i could find a website where i can read the list of things you cant send to Japan.
