Sanders Claus

Yesterday on Christmas Eve, I was in Sendai to work my final evening before vacation started. I had previously mentioned how KFC is the king of Christmas in Japan. To prove I did not exaggerate this, I swung by and took some photos.

As you can see the lineup is really far out the door. People really want their fried chicken for Christmas. This was taken at 8:00pm, so you can imagine what it would have been like at dinner time. Crazy! The Colonel knows which side his bread is buttered on, that’s why he gets in on the Christmas mania too.

  1. So, did you have chicken and Xmas cake for Xmas dinner?

We had a very nice dinner that included chicken (but not KFC (although I have no problem with KFC at Xmas…it’s good)).

  2. My In-laws did buy some KFC for dinner on Christmas day. They did have Christmas cake, but it had strawberries, so I didn’t have any.

  3. Xmas Cake is a Strawberry Shortcake usually.
    Don’t you like 苺 (strawberries)?

  4. yep, not a fan of strawberries. Which is bad, because a lot of cake over here has strawberries in it.

  5. Usually only Strawberry Shortcake has strawberries. Unfortunately (for you), it’s the most popular cake here for both Xmas and birthday cakes.

There are many other types of cakes in Japanese pastry shops. Cheese Cake, Chocolate Cake, etc
