Street Fighter 4

On Monday while I was in Sendai for work I went to Namco Land and finally got to play Street Fighter 4! I have to say the game looks amazing, almost like it’s drawn with water colors. It of course played very well too.

Each cabinet has only one set of controls. All multiplayer is handled by network and Internet. I did OK when I played against the CPU, but when I was forced to play against another player I got trounced. I was kind of embarrassing, since I used to be so good at Street Fighter 2. Thank God I couldn’t see my opponent. My only gripe with the game is that it forces you to play against human opponents. All of the menus were in Japanese so there might be a CPU only selection, but I would never know. I needed time to practice the new stuff, but that was impossible to do while fight against someone who has already fought in 40 battles. Just a small gripe. I feel luck to be able to play it a long time before any one in North America can though. One of the benefits of being in Japan.

is this available from MAME ?
It would be nice to try that out.

  2. I think MAME is about ten years behind having Street Fighter 4. You can try it on ps3 in a few months.

That’s interesting that each cabinet has only one set of controls. It sounds like a bad idea really. I wonder why they did that.

    Looking forward to this one.

  4. Yeah it kinda defeats put a quarter on the machine to challenge someone.

It’s starting to invade North America: http://www.eventhubs.com/articles/2008/aug/15/street-fighter-4-arcade-machine-tracker/

Closest one to me is in Toronto. Still a bit far.

  6. I’m sure it’ll be in Montreal soon. I’m holding on to my coins for the PS3 version. Of course who knows when that’s coming out.
