I spotted this sign the other day for a kimono rental/ hairdresser. The sign is so old that they’ve probably been using it since the 60’s.

All of the pictures have long since turned blue because of the sunlight.

Would you trust a hairdresser that advertises with this photo below?
If they can make that last hairdo, they must’ve been very popular in the’80s!
I’d say it’s more late 70’s. It looks like she’s ready for a night of disco dancing.:)
The hairdresser must have some very loyal longtime customers. Maybe even from the 1960s.
I hope they do. They won’t get any young ones.
And if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Actually in Japan, if it is broken don’t fix it either. Just go out and buy a whole new one.
YES, That is Erika’s philosophy on everything. When ever I try to make do with something or try to fix something her first and only response is to go an buy a new one.
Get used to it brother.
Hahahahaaha you guys crack me up! Thanks I needed that today. I dont think Id dare step in that saloon though ..not at all.
I would go in, just to see what would happen!
I’m sure my honey-colored hair could use a tsubaki oil treatment from a spunky obaachan.
What is tsubaki oil?
I think in English, it’s called Camellia oil. It’s a Japanese hair and skin care wonder.

It’s really old-fashioned, but it’s become trendy again.
Shiseido has a whole line of hair care products with tsubaki.
